Olympic 1980s Logos

The main goal of the Olympics is to unite athletes and nations together around the world in a time of peaceful competition.

The Olympic rings haven’t changed much over the years, but the city-to-city hosts choose their own identity. You can see a design trend starting in the 80s—a sort of stacked style.

I’m not a fan of Americana, but as much as I love to hate the Los Angeles logo, it does encompass the qualities of the fast paced city, plus it’s very easy to remember. The others are good as well, but I have to admit that snowflake/maple leaf Calgary logo leaves something to be desired. The stem seems out of place.

This is simply a rough idea, but if I had any say over they years I might suggest unifying them something like this:
