About Us

Red & Burgundy thrives on teamwork and conceptual thinking. We think that two heads are better than one, and when you back a good idea with something that stimulates the imagination that same idea becomes great. Jennifer and Cade take a highly conceptual approach to design. It should be appropriate to the need, carry a message, and be clear to its target audience. And if we can smartly shift a perception or paradigm along the way, all the better. Vikrant is the newest addition to the team as our in-house techie. We welcome him and the skills he brings.

Jennifer Patankar

Founder · Creative Director

I spent the early years of my life moving from place to place (Alabama, Virginia, Panama, Oklahoma, Texas, and a short stint in the UK to name a few). After graduating from college I got the travel itch again, picked up  and moved shop to San Francisco. I settled in and am not moving anywhere.

I received my first design award for an energy conservation campaign at the age of 7. Though I didn’t realize it then, I was en route to becoming a professional communication designer. I didn’t know what it was called or how to get there, until I stumbled upon Texas State University’s Communication Design program. Unbeknownst to me at the time, it was one of the best design programs in the South.

Today I stay up to date with AIGA, the professional association for design, by volunteering at and attending events in Texas and California throughout the years. I have been a member of AIGA since 2003.

Founder · Business Manager

I have moved about a bit, but not as drastically as Jennifer has. Though born in the crisp mountains of Colorado and partially raised on a blamy island off the coast of Texas, I find San Francisco to be a perfect place that feels like home and full of opportunity. The longer I live here, the more I feel that I belong here.

What draws me to design is the approachable nature of it—everyone can appreciate it to some degree. It has power to persuade, to move people, and to raise emotions. Everyone has experienced design and been subject to its influence. Good design can create more good.

My personal projects are varied and long-standing, but everyone has a hobby or four. Check out the Projects tab above to see what we are up to.

Vikrant Patankar

Web Developer

Since childhood I’ve always been a tech geek. Whenever I was given a new toy, the first thing I would do is figure out how to disassemble it with a wrench and screwdriver and then put it back together.  This hobby ended up spurring my career in the field of engineering and technology.

I finished my B.S. in Electronics Engineering in 2001. I then decided to pursue my M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Portland State University. I have been working for the past five years in the tech sector and have worked on various technologies starting from C, C++ to Java, Perl and Sql.

Taking over the whole web development effort for Red & Burgundy is my latest endeavor. I specialize in technical issues, system administration, web administration, backups and disaster recovery.
