Ivan Chermayeff was a founder of Chermayeff & Geismar, a New York-based graphic design firm, in partner with  Tom Geismar. The studio is famous for designing logos of such companies as Pan Am, Mobil Oil, PBS, Chase Bank, Barneys New York, Harper Collins, Xerox, Smithsonian Institution, National Broadcasting Company, Cornell University, National Geographic, and many others. Ivan Chermayeff and Thomas Geismar were awarded the AIGA Medal in 1979.

In 2007 Sagi Haviv became the third partner at the firm. Haviv, Chermayeff and Geismar have designed graphic identities, exhibitions, art in architecture, and print and motion graphics for the Library of Congress, Armani Exchange, the Kennedy Center Honors; Hearst Corporation, the Southern Poverty Law Center, and PBS.
